Elyson Eye Care is looking for a full-time optometric assistant/receptionist to join and grow with our brand new practice in Katy. We will proudly serve our community with quality eye care and aim to leave a lasting impression in a welcoming environment!

Our optometric technician will work alongside the doctor to deliver an outstanding patient experience with great customer service. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, cheerful, dependable, able to multitask, willing to learn, and has good communication skills. Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must. Spanish-speaking is preferred but not required.

This position will open in June 2023.

Position Summary:

• Answer phones and schedule patients
• Verify and submit to medical and vision insurances
• Perform preliminary testing on patients and get them ready for the doctor
• Teach insertion and removal for new contact lens patients
• Assist patients in ordering glasses and contact lenses
• Adjust and repair eyewear
• Create fee slips and be able to accurately quote and charge patients for their exams and materials
• Maintain cleanliness of the office
• Additional tasks requested by doctor to support smooth operations of the office

Required Qualifications:

• Available to work on Saturdays (shorter working day)
• Developed communication skills, both verbal and written
• Basic computer skills (required in order to use our electronic records)
• A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
• Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year experience in the optical/medical industry, however, we are willing to train
• Knowledge of the optical industry (frames, lenses, and insurances)

Education:

• High School Graduate or equivalent required

Compensation:

• Full Time
• $12.00-$15.00 per hour based on experience and skill level
