Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:

  • Providing comprehensive healthcare services in the Gynecology Program: outpatient, pre- and post-operative surgical.
  • Performing a complete history and physical exam and interprets findings, assessing patients and providing care in the urgent and elective outpatient gynecology clinic.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies in outpatient, pre-op, and post-op settings.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with the healthcare team and utilizes resources to meet the patient’s needs. Writing and dictating notes, communications to referring providers, as well as demonstrating proficiency in the patient’s medical record to include patient history, physical, diagnosis, and care plan.
  • Triaging calls and identifying patients that require gynecologic consultation with referring pediatricians or other healthcare professionals.
  • Participating in formal and informal teaching opportunities with team members.
  • Performing post-operative care such as teaching use of vaginal dilators, removing sutures/staples, removing drains and tubes.
  • Performing minor surgical procedures depending on experience level (such as IUD placement).
  • Maintaining clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities and self-evaluation.
  • Prescribing medications.
  • Working 40 hours per week, days, 10 hour days, Tuesday being one of the days.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A BSN and Master’s in Nursing (graduate of a certified NP Program)
  • Current MA NP license.
  • 3-5 years NP experience in women’s or adolescent health preferred. Would also consider primary care experience.
  • The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge.
  • Ability to rotate between the main campus and 2 Brookline Place.

The team treats patients from birth through young adulthood that live all over the world and have a variety of pediatric and adolescent gynecologic issues. Our team includes physicians (medical and surgical gynecologists), nurses, clinical fellows, a social worker, a Nurse Practitioner, a Physician Assistant, and a part time OB/GYN resident from the Brigham and Women’s/Massachusetts General Hospital combined residency program.
