University's Health and Wellness (UHW) offers employees a variety of services and health screenings without charge. UHW has Occupational Health Nurses trained to administer the services and screening programs listed below.

Overview

The University's Health and Wellness (UHW) Nurse Practitioner will report directly to the Director of University Health and Wellness and will work with the Director of University Health and Wellness, Clinicians, and Administrators in providing health care to employees.
The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate clinical expertise and conduct health assessments of patients with real or potential, acute, and/or chronic health problems, including initiating appropriate diagnostic tests, treatment/prescription, and referrals to specialty services to foster continuity of care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positive interpersonal relationships with employees and demonstrate the ability to negotiate effectively with others, knowledge of emergency care procedures, and uphold the University emergency response system
  • Help promote health education and counsel University employees about health maintenance and encourage appropriate use of the University Health Services
  • Maintain special occupational health and preventative medicine programs, including post-employment physical exams (PPE's) and annual health exams (AHE's) required for campus populations
  • Monitor and maintain accurate case management records for disabilities, in accordance with FMLA, ADA, and HIPPA requirements
  • Implement safety and accident prevention programs, as well as identify risks and hazards in the workplace. Assist with counseling employees on the prevention of work-related injuries

  • Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA requirements, OSHA recordkeeping, and Worker's Compensation procedures, and maintains accurate Worker's Compensation
  • Collaborate with employees, multiple departments, physicians, and department heads concerning case management of injuries, and management of disabilities.
  • Update nursing skills through journal articles, in-service programs, and attending seminars and conferences

  • Assist Director in maintaining inventory supplies and equipment. Will assist the department Director with programs and projects as required and developed

Qualifications

Master's degree in an adult or family nurse practitioner program required. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York required. Active BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Previous relevant clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner is necessary, and Occupational Health experience/certification is desirable. Must have very strong interpersonal skills and excellent discretion, judgment, tact, initiative, organizational skills, and self-motivation. Must be able to work independently, multi-task comfortably, and handle sensitive confidential information. Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills and other electronic applications required.

USD $54,000.00/Yr.

Compensation Range: Max

USD $84,000.00/Yr.
