FLSA STATUS: Hourly

SHIFT: SWING

WAGE: Depending on Experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

Overall plant-wide maintenance and installation of various machinery and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose problems with machinery.
  • Installs machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
  • Reads blue prints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Cut, weld and fabricate.
  • Maintains, dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, aligns and services all plant equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic hydraulic and stored energy.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gears, reducers, bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, and valves.
  • Performs preventative maintenance for operational effectiveness.
  • Maintains and promotes awareness of safe working conditions and practices by following all policies and procedures. Cautions others, as necessary, in working in a safe manner.
  • Verbally reports any unusual conditions to sawmill superintendent.
  • Performs routine corrective electrical maintenance.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Must be able to perform within a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred high school graduate or GED.
  • Preferred millwright experience.
  • Must be willing to keep knowledge up to date.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform assigned duties with little supervision.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good analysis / problem solving skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and able to push or pull up to 100 pounds. Regularly, the employee is required to go up and down stairs, stand and use hands to finger. Intermittently employee is required to handle or feel, pull/push and stoop, kneel, or crouch. This position requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position works in a loud environment, exposed to weather elements and is very fast pace. This position will regularly be working near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
