For more than 100 years, The Fessenden School has offered state-of-the-art facilities, curriculum, and programs specifically designed to meet the educational needs of boys.Position SummaryThe Fessenden Schools Middle School seeks a middle school science interim teacher for the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year. They will be responsible for teaching four Grade 6 Science classes, being a member of the sixth grade team, advising, and supervising study halls as assigned.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Teach and stay current with curriculum and 21st century learningIncorporate project-based learning, educational technology, differentiated learning and cultural competency into teaching and learningCollaborate with Director of Equity and integrate multicultural and social justice curriculum curriculum into the science curriculumCollaborate and facilitate character education and service learning programs with Middle School HeadExemplify the Schools mission and community principles, including honesty, compassion, and respect Participate in and help facilitate all division and grade-level activities and meetingsCoach a sport and/ or supervise sports study hall as assignedCollaborate with colleagues within grade level, division, department and student support services, including the Learning Resources DepartmentPerform duties such as supervising drop off and dismissal, recess, lunch; being a homeroom teacher and/or advisor, grade team member, student club facilitator: leading/assisting with fall orientation, grade trips, overnight grade trips and events.Maintain all documentation connected with the curriculum and studentsAttend faculty, department, and division meetings; typically on Mondays from 4:30pm to 5:45pmAttend professional development meetingsMaintain regular and reliable attendanceMaintain current CPR/AED & first aid certification and child abuse prevention trainingOther duties as assignedScheduleAugust 21, 2023 to January 2, 2024Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pmMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in education, science, or related subjectOne to two years of experience in instructing children in an academic programAbility to develop and provide differentiated instruction to meet learning needs of a range of studentsEnthusiasm and communication skills to engage boys and build meaningful relationshipsStrong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control a classroomAbility to perform critical thinking, organization, prioritization and problem solving with minimal supervisionAbility to serve in a diverse community of colleagues, students, and parentsDemonstrated commitment to inclusion, justice, diversity, and equityA commitment to boys and boys educationSuccessful criminal background checkPreferred Qualifications Masters degree in education, science, or related subjectTeaching certification Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that are essential functions of this position.
