Skills and Qualifications:

• Valid Washington State ESA Certificate with School Counselor endorsement.
• Master's Degree from an accredited university, with major course work in Counseling, Psychology or other related field.
• Three years' work experience counseling in elementary, middle, junior or senior high school preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Major Tasks and Responsiblities:

• Establish and maintain an effective guidance and counseling program.
• Assist each student with immediate problems and concerns to effect sound decision-making skills.
• Assists with scheduling of students.
• Help with orientation of students involved in grade level changes, transfer, and entry within and outside the district.
• Function as a member of the educational team (teachers, administrators and other specialists).
• Makes referrals to community resources.
• Teach skills in the classroom, or other group settings, concerning coping, social norms, physical and emotional survial, mediation, multi-cultural awareness and problem solving.
• Administer, monitor, evaluate and record student progress using available student data.
• Work with teachers and principals to create a positive learning enviornment throughout the school.
• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by the building principal, administration and the law (including parent contact or team meetings).
• Sevres as the building Section 504 Coordinator.
• Paricipate in specialized training at the direction of the district.
• Uphold Royal School District Board Policies, follow administrative procedures, adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct and enforce school rules.
• Performs such other duties as may be required of the psotion or assigned by the administration to fulfill the mission and role of the school in the community.

Terms of Employment

• Starting Date: 2022-23 School Year
• Salary: $50,840-$105,726 Based on education and experience 2022-23 Salary Schedule. Full Benefits are administered through SEBB, DRS-Washington, 403-B, Tuition Reimbursement.
