MFP Library Youth Services Part-Time - Afternoon/Evening Programming Job at Mammen Family Public Library
The Youth Services Specialist will work ~25 hours/week, Monday-Friday in the afternoons and evenings
Monday & Wednesday: 3-7
Tuesday & Thursday: 2-8
Friday: 2-6

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Youth Services Librarian II and Youth Services Team, Youth Services Specialist provides library programming to children 0-12, in addition to reference and reader’s advisory services. The Youth Services Specialist collaborates with the Youth Services team to offer innovative programming, support existing programming, and provide additional coverage at the Youth Services Information Desk. An ideal candidate is comfortable working with young children, elementary school students, and tweens.
Assist with youth programming in the afternoons and evenings -- either by planning and conducting programs themselves, or by contracting with program/workshop leaders -- including but not limited to:
- Art classes
- Coding/Computer classes
- Family Programs
- Yoga/Dance programs
- Clubs
- Storytimes
- Parties and seasonal events
- Passive programming initiatives
Coordinates with Youth Services Department staff regarding scheduling and program development
Develops or finds program ideas and gathers necessary materials
Collaborate with Youth Services Department staff to plan and execute annual SRP aligned with the CSLP theme
Assist MFPL Outreach Specialist for children’s events as necessary

Provide assistance at the Information Desk with the following:
Assist patrons in registering for a library card
- Check in and check out library materials to patrons
- Collect fines for library materials
- Answer patron questions at the front desk
- Provide assistance to patrons with technology questions
- Shelve library materials when needed
Staff the Youth Services Information Desk on a regular schedule
Maintain tidiness and organization of youth collections/shelving and areas, including displays, signage, seating areas, etc. as well as in youth services storage, office, filing and working areas
Fill in for other members of the Youth Services Team as needed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
