The MHT provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environmental/instrumentation, and other health care members. The MHT is a safety champion, milieu manager, and preceptor for new MHT's. The MHT functions as a member of the therapeutic team within limits as designated by the policies and procedures of RPC.

About this unit:

This is a 10 bed inpatient trauma unit treating individuals 18 and over who have trauma-related symptoms and diagnoses. The therapeutic approach of the program varies according to individual needs, with a focus on stabilization and trauma resolution utilizing evidence-based approaches, especially interventions which promote growth and empowerment, validate and offer insight, and move patients forward with the least re-traumatizing approach. A combination of treatment approaches are utilized.

Responsibilities:

  • The MHT provides and documents on patient care and observes patient behaviors based on the nursing process, established hospital policies and procedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and/or Standards of Care/Practice.
  • Assists in the coordination of nursing/psychiatric care provided in conjunction with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Functions as a Safety Champion and Milieu Manager, serves on MHT Council.

What you will do in this role:

  • Under direction of RN, Team Charge Nurse, Unit Manager or Medical Staff provides nursing care to mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patients in psychiatric hospital and participates in treatment programs.


What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications:

  • Missouri Certified Nurse Assistant preferred
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) required upon hire or within 90 days of hire

Experience:

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
