What to Expect
As a Tesla Mechanical Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime.
Tesla's Equipment Maintenance is also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running. This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day.
In addition, the technician may wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed.
What You’ll Do

  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain various types of facilities equipment including: pumps, boilers, fans, roll-up doors, cranes, compressors and dock equipment.
  • Display Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be resourceful and get the job done under pressure or tight timelines.
  • Work within a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to design, fabricate and build basic and/or complex structures, supports or framework in the execution of daily tasks.
  • Ability to Weld using ARC, MIG, TIG processes.
  • Ability to perform oxy/acetylene torch, plasma arc cutting processes.
  • Show ability to perform safe rigging procedures for lifting or installing various equipment.
  • Perform demolition of equipment/systems and the ability to properly isolate, rig and remove safely in proper sequence.
  • Understand, troubleshoot and maintain facilities infrastructure, and utilities across multiple sites.
  • Understand and enforce code compliance throughout the Facilities scope of operations.
  • Ability to execute preventative maintenance on all responsible equipment.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of responsible equipment.
  • Modernization and continuing improvements of responsible equipment.
  • Ensures an adequate on-hand spare parts inventory or lead-time system in place to support responsible equipment.
  • Generate failure reports and corrective measures on major incidents to decrease and prevent failures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for readiness and operational capacity.
  • Professional, informative and responsive communication to customers.
  • Interacts with customers to understand requests or concerns.
  • Be proficient in general office PC programs and equipment monitoring systems.
  • Must be able to respond to Facilities Emergencies as directed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical experience with industrial equipment, distribution, and infrastructure
  • Excellent communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Experience in design Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems and some plumbing and fire protection design experience
  • Professional Design Experience in a wide range of project types including: industrial cooling tower systems, chiller plants, boiler plants, office, mission critical/data centers, high tech/R&D, bio-tech/pharmaceutical and industrial
  • Knowledge and experience with writing sequences of operation
  • Ability to Enforce and follow all Safety rules and regulations
  • Safety Certifications a plus (OSHA30)
  • Welding Certification a plus
  • Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as HVAC load calculations, Pipe-flo, Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD a plus.
  • Candidate is expected to contribute to day-to-day operations that may be outside of their normal skill set, such as restroom repair and training/exposure to work unfamiliar with the candidate.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected Compensation
$18.00 - $56.16/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
