Job Summary:
Amentum is looking for Mechanical Equipment Designer III to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit in our project office in Englewood, CO. This group specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, glove-boxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials.

Job Description

Mechanical Equipment Designer III will work directly with small teams to produce 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment with direction from the project engineer. Typical equipment includes containment systems (glove-boxes, hot cells, clean-rooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels.

Scope/Key Responsibilities

Detailed design activities include preparation of component, subassembly and main assembly Creo (Pro/E) models; creating detailed fabrication drawing packages; creating detailed Bills of Materials and completing equipment data-sheets. Establishes model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables and is responsible for establishing and maintaining file naming conventions and Windchill folders. Design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $34.98-$52.64 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Minimum Requirements:
Required Experience

Degree Requirements: Associates Degree or Technical College Certification required

A minimum of six (6) years of experience in related field.

Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.

Must demonstrate basic knowledge of or aptitude for Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill.

Familiarity with other 3D systems (CATIA, SolidWorks), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred), and Autodesk Revit a plus.

Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software.

Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment data-sheets and design record documents.

Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus.

Hands-on experience with our typical equipment a plus.

Local candidates preferred.

Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship

Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
