Operating Company is seeking a qualified individual to join our tight-knit design team. Located in Rock Island, IL, we currently support some of the world’s largest manufacturers in agriculture, steel, aluminum, energy, forestry, construction, and other heavy industries. Our designers are responsible for developing creative material handling solutions and other engineered components. At Simmers, collaboration is key, as our typical project starts with a group brainstorming session before moving into the design phase. Every member of our team and their ideas are highly valued. As a member of our design team, you will manage projects from concept to completion by directly overseeing every aspect of them. This will all happen while working directly with clients to ensure their needs and timeline are met in a detailed and professional manner.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use Creo to design lifting devices and other tooling to meet clients’ needs
  • Use Creo to create drawings and build prints of your designs to meet various client standards
  • Give client presentations as required – either in person or via virtual meeting
  • Track all aspects of assigned projects – including design, timeline, and finances
  • Coordinate with sales team to quote job opportunities

Requirements Skills/Abilities:

  • Associate degree in an engineering discipline or drafting is required
  • 2+ years of experience with Creo is preferred
  • 3+ Years of industry experience is preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to solve complex problems using mathematical thinking processes
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, including but not limited to, Creo
  • Experience in the agricultural and/or industrial fields is a plus
  • The desire and ability to be creative when solving problems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office – including Outlook, Excel, Word, and

PowerPoint

  • Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as you will be communicating directly with clients regularly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
