What to Expect

Tesla is recruiting for an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join our Production Control (PC) team in Lathrop, CA. The successful candidate will plan and manage the indirect material program for Service Manufacturing. He/she will work together with Production and Process Engineering to identify the required materials for the program, set the parameters with the vendor, work with production planning to forecast the usage, and then plan and establish continuous supply. This planning role requires a boots-on-the-ground presence in the factory with strong knowledge of supply chain planning and procurement.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan, schedule and manage indirect materials (consumables) for production, and always ensure supply
  • Work closely with Process Engineers to define indirect material requirements and forecasted usage
  • Establish strong supplier relationships and ensure delivery commitments are met on-time
  • Facilitate vendor-managed inventory and ensure stock levels are maintained to min/max levels
  • Optimize quantity and location of indirect material vending machines to match production requirements
  • Manage site storage locations and min/max inventory levels for non-vended indirect materials
  • Establish consumption metrics and proactively manage over-consumption through root cause analysis
  • Lead efforts with Production Teams to manage usage, reduce waste and optimize consumption
  • Conduct usage audits to ensure excess and obsolescence are managed and minimized
  • Process purchase requisitions and manage open purchase orders with suppliers through delivery
  • Work closely with GSM / Supply Chain to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Utilize data analytics to identify risks and solve problems related to indirect material supply
  • Report operational KPI’s, department status and drive root cause / countermeasure activities
  • Support PC with indirect material procurement for related site projects as needed
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years of material planning, or warehouse replenishment experience
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, MRP knowledge, Replenishment Ordering methodology, etc.)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with suppliers, Production, Quality, Logistics and Engineering
  • Proven ability to effectively lead meetings and drive tasks to support an accurate planning process
  • Highly organized and data driven
  • Ability to manipulate and interpret data to support Cost savings initiatives.
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing warehousing and consumption management
  • Working knowledge of supporting systems is ideal (WARP, MFS, MRP, Kanban, RO)
  • Flexible mindset to change, create and/or adapt to new processes
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Strong process Improvement & lean methodology understanding
  • Enthusiastic, eager to succeed, and ready for all challenges
