Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Material Coordinator to join our team in our Creston or Osceola, IA office! You will be responsible for control and delivery of the inventory of materials and supplies. You will perform functions of ordering, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and returning materials used by company personnel in operation, construction and maintenance activities of the gas and electric departments. This position works out of a specific location, supporting that location as well as providing relief for classifications at stores locations within a geographic region. This position will report out of the Creston or Osceola, IA Operations Center.
  • This vacancy may be filled at a Journey or Apprentice level.
  • Training Locations: Cedar Rapids, Ames, Marshalltown, Dubuque, Clinton, Decorah, Creston, Osceola, IA.
  • Pursuant to Article X, Section 9(d), you must be prepared to accept the position or withdraw your bid at the time you are contacted.

What you will do
  • Operate material management software.
  • Pack outgoing material for shipment.
  • Uncrate, inspect and account for incoming material.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, receipt and distribution of material.
  • Organize material by placing in bins and racks for storage.
  • Operate, maintain and inspect material handling i.e. fork lifts, electric pallet jacks, order pickers, boom equipment trucks, pickups, straight trucks, semis, trailers, cranes.
  • Locate and requisition all needed material and supplies.
  • Prepare order, receiving reports, transfer, issue and return tickets.
  • Assist personnel in locating and loading material.
  • Process material returns in a timely manner.
  • Maintains storeroom and stage areas in a secure and orderly manner.
  • Must report to work fit for duty and free from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma Required

Required Experience
  • 2 years Store’s experience
  • 2 or more years experience in Storeroom operations, electric and/or gas construction operators or equivalent
Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires Class A commercial driver's license
  • Maintain valid Driver Qualification file
  • Obtain and maintain valid Commercial Driver’s License and Driver Qualification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Typing, computer literacy, forklift operation; electrical and gas operations
  • Knowledge of electric line supplies, wire, poles, transformers, hardware, gas materials and hardware.
  • Must have mechanical and analytical skills
  • Oral and writing communication skills
  • Ability to operate fork lift
  • Computer ability
  • Ability to work under stress with multiple and changing priorities; diverse environment
  • Work in both environments exposed to temperature changes and all varieties of weather.
  • Basic knowledge of CPR and First Aid.
