Job Description:
Microchip has an opening for a Massachusetts Licensed Journeyman Electrician / Facilities Technician in the Facilities Department at our Lowell, MA site. Day shift hours (Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm), available to work overtime if required.

Essential Functions
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot facilities electrical equipment.
  • Work from drawings and one-line schematics.
  • Must be competent with 480/277V, 120/208V, interfacing with building controls systems.
  • Must be experienced in lockout/tag out procedures, arc flash requirements and general industrial safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work as a team and/or independently with limited supervision in a safe manner.
  • In addition to electrical duties, significant daily support dedicated to the facilities operation and maintenance of all building systems associated with operations in a small semiconductor manufacturing chemical environment, including a Grade 2 (pH) controlled industrial wastewater pretreatment operation.
  • Responsibilities and general knowledge / experience include training/certification in DOT / Hazardous Waste chemical handling, storage and shipment.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • State of Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical License
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 5 years minimum of electrical experience with 2 years in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting and problem solving of electrical systems and controls.
  • Team player: Ability to work with other employees and vendors to identify and solve electrical issues.
  • Ability to work on projects with little or no direction, identifying what needs to be done and executing work in a timely fashion.
  • Must be competent in Windows based business computer software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Upgrade, develop and maintain facilities plant and equipment required for the efficient running of a small sized semiconductor manufacturing (assembly, test and burn-in) operation.

Special Requirements
  • Participation as an active member of the ERT (Emergency Response Team).
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for training purposes.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs.; push, pull approx. 50 lbs.; carry 20 lbs.; sit 60%; stand 20%; walk 20%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing. Work environment could include slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors.
  • Must have manual dexterity, hearing and visual acuity (color distinction, peripheral vision and depth perception).
  • This is classified as a Safety Sensitive position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Training / certification in a Grade 2 pH control wastewater operation and the ability to pass state grade 2 wastewater license within (12) months of employment
