The Position: The Maintenance Specialist I supports the overall maintenance and repair of the Manufacturing equipment, buildings, and grounds. The individual in this role supports King Arthur’s manufacturing facility and implements equipment preventative maintenance (PM) programs while adjusting to the continuously changing priorities of production and business needs.

Reports to: Plant Manager

Location: White River Junction, VT

Pay: $19-27. Individual offers will be based upon a candidate's qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnoses equipment, replace/repair parts, test and adjust as needed and completes works orders in a timely manner
• Works in conjunction with a Maintenance Specialist II and the Plant Manager to complete projects which fall outside general work orders or PM work orders
• Maintains up to date records using the King Arthur’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS): FIXX and Redzone Activities
• May develop and implement additional repairs to meet business needs
• Maintains proper inventory levels for all building related equipment
• Secures, estimates, and obtains cost quotes as needed for replacement parts or new equipment as requested
• Coordinates arrangement and monitoring of appropriate third-party contractor services (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, equipment related vendors)
• Understands and utilizes QA, safety, and ergonomic best practices in all work processes.
• Provides technical safety and support to company's safety department as needed
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Performs all work in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices while implementing and following Lean practices
• Effectively meets service, quality, and efficiency benchmarks and expectations
• Consistently demonstrate appropriate team culture, leadership, and commitment to King Arthur’s mission and goals.
• Works with Production Generalist II – Maintenance Operator to complete specific tasks and PM’s as needed

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school diploma
• 5+ years of related experience in manufacturing equipment or related field
• Mechanical/Technical Certified such as Electrical, HVAC, etc.
• Available to work full time
• Working knowledge and experience of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with CMMS preferred
• Experience in food manufacturing preferred
• Electrical background preferred
• Ability to be flexible with job assignments and quickly master new tasks.
• Ability to organize work and establish priorities
• Willingness to obtain additional trade certifications which support job requirements
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow through on assigned tasks in a timely manner
• After hours’ coverage (nights/weekends) as needed

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb step ladders
• Work is performed in an office, retail, and warehouse environments with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, and dust. The incumbent's working conditions are moderately noisy.
• Employees who drive a company-owned vehicle as part of their jobs will need to be subjected to both a post offer, pre-employment motor vehicle records (MVR) check, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Employees must complete King Arthur Baking driver safety training prior to being allowed to drive a company owned vehicle.
