Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Advices on product design with regards to product manufacturability. Creates manufacturing solutions incl. Environment, coordinates product ramp up and drives continuous improvement topics.
  • Analyzes product specifications, and clarifies product requirements and manufacturing aspects with accountable R&D, Engineering and/or Product Management. Develops and calculates product modifications needed to increase efficiency of production, and contributes to re-engineering.
  • Provides detailed information on product specifications and on pieces and parts needed for product completion.
  • Plans equipment layout, tools and IT programs needed, and designs or contributes to design the manufacturing workflow. Cooperates in these aspects with other respective Engineers.
  • Analyzes manufacturing sequences during pilot series and test and analyzes manufacturability of pre-series samples. May recommend product changes and implements production amendments.
  • Conducts improvements projects on site or unit level, and liaises with other engineering functions, external vendors or service providers.
  • Ensures appropriate process and product documentation.
  • Perform tool design and modifications using CAD, capital planning and procurement activities while adhering to OSHA and safety requirements. Perform training of production, quality and maintenance personnel for tools.
  • Support in-house assembly operations in their efforts to maintain existing tools, fixtures, gauges, torque tools and rigging equipment
  • Team with tool makers to assist in development, modifying and implementation of tooling.
  • Develop lifting plans detailing rigging required to lift large components
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves assembly processes, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, safety requirements, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly instructions, quality control, and corporate standards.
  • Performs complex planning of plant layout, workflow, and accidental prevention measures to maintain optimum and safe utilization of plant resources
  • Completes the determination of the most economic methods, operation sequence and tooling for assembly of component for complex processes
  • Completes complex manufacturing engineer duties, may include product change management, assembly instructions development, work standard development and quality assurance functions.
  • Partners with cross functions on Lean Manufacturing, New Product Introduction and problem-solving activities
  • Confer with clients about product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent degree / experience is required (Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Degree preferred)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing industry
  • Requires experience with CAD (AutoCAD/NX)
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Good understanding and commitment to a Safe Work Culture
  • Strong communication skills required
Preferred Knowledge/Skills or Experience
  • SAP proficiency and familiarity with Teamcenter, NX
  • Tooling Engineering experience
  • Exposure to Project Management activities
  • FEA analysis
