The Program Manager will serve as the deputy to the GMD Program Manager with responsibility for the overall execution of the GMD program. In addition, this position will require the management of ~$80M of program support labor with an emphasis on driving efficiencies into the program.


Job Duties:

Program Execution:

    • Establish and clearly communicate overall program objectives, mission, vision, and strategy

    • Ensure program-wide focus on safety, reliability, cost, and schedule, and adequacy of systems, procedures, and people for long-term success

  • Schedule Management:
    • Develop an integrated master plan and supervise implementation of production schedules that support that master plan

    • Perform program risk assessments and proactively identify opportunities for avoidance or mitigation

  • Financial Performance:

o Develop and manage program budgets

o Conduct formal EAC reviews and forecast financial performance

o Perform program risk assessments and proactively identify opportunities for avoidance or mitigation

  • Company-Customer Interface:
    • Represent Northrup Grumman and the GMD team in meetings and management boards with Boeing and Missile Defense Agency

    • Represent the customer to Northrup Grumman, understanding the needs and requirements of the customer, and integrating this understanding into program execution and business strategy

    • Service the customer (executing the program and resolving issues in accordance with business objectives, strategy, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies)

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor of Science Engineering plus 5 years of related work experience; Masters degree plus 3 years of related work experience.

  • Candidate must have demonstrated work experience in a production environment, with a proven track record of meeting customer expectations, schedule targets, and budget commitments
  • Direct internal as well as external customer interface experience
  • Verbal and written communications with all levels of management
  • Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via EVMS
  • Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined teams
  • Extensive experience creating and delivering presentations to customers and senior leadership teams
  • Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes, and configuration management
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering experience -or- system engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BS)

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Able to obtain security clearance

  • Ability to Travel Occasionally (6-8 trips/year)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An ideal candidate will have a Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Experience in responding to government Request for Proposals (RFP) and negotiating large contracts >$50M

  • Experience managing programs with yearly revenues in excess of $100M

  • Experience with all program financial aspects including but not limited to cash management, revenue forecasting, and long range strategic planning

  • Working knowledge of US Government procurement and contracting.



Salary Range: $106,400 USD - $159,600 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
