Maintenance/Transportation Lead Job at Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union

Manchester Elementary School seeks a full time year-round Maintenance/Transportation Lead to maintain the physical school and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety. The Lead also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature. The Lead provides support and works closely with school administration during day and evening activities. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
In addition to performing, assigning, and supervising daily cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance routines, the Lead works with the Director of Operations on planning, scheduling, and overseeing large projects. The Lead operates within district and school policies and procedures, and by applying acceptable custodial standards, Labor and Industry standards, and OSHA standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: a) Makes or assists in making minor repairs to building and equipment. Perform additional maintenance and custodial tasks as directed by Administration.b) Perform janitorial duties such as cleaning bathrooms and classrooms, scrubbing, mopping floors.
Strip, wax, and polish floors. Care for lawn and shrubs, clean sidewalks, remove snow and ice from decks and roofs. Sand and salt walkways as needed.c) Perform minor carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance.d) Respond to emergency situations such as power failure, plumbing, heating or vandalism.e) Must be able to perform substantial physical labor, be able to lift up to 50 lbs.f) Provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipmentg) Assist with transportation scheduling and fill in as a driver when needed.h) Effectively manage and supervise custodial staff.i) Maintains inventory & requests cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks. j) Secures equipment and suppliesk) Assists the Director of Operations in maintaining control of keys and distribute to staff as requiredl) Secures school building.
