The Transit Maintenance Technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance on the Sacramento International Airport People Mover, the guideway and station doors.

Responsibilities:

Inspect vehicles and related equipment to detect failed or improperly operating equipment. Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems inspection following established procedures or other written or verbal instructions.
Perform preventive & corrective maintenance and/or replace defective parts or equipment utilizing manuals, drawings, specs, and other written or verbal instructions.
Respond to system failure to recover vehicles and restore operation. Operate train, doors, switches, train control and power distribution systems in manual mode when directed to do so. Assist passengers during emergency operations.
Prepare reports or daily logs as required. Participate in training programs. Perform housekeeping and administrative duties. Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Observe all safety practices and procedures.
Provide oversight of automated train control equipment located in Central Control. Manually intervene during downtime/recovery events and/or during train, guideway and platform door malfunctions. Dispatch Recovery Teams consisting of Transit Technicians and other site personnel as appropriate when manual intervention is not successful.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; Preferably an Associate degree (A.S.) in a related mechanical or technical discipline and/or Vocational Training/Certification in a related discipline.
Basic knowledge in all electronic, mechanical, electro/mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, subsystems, and components related to transit systems.
Skilled in the diagnosis of electronic and mechanical failure identification.
Ability to use various computer applications for reports, shift communications, inventory control, etc.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, and all standard electro/mechanical symbols.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to be utilized in the preparation of reports and task assignments.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and bulletins written in English; ability to write reports for submission to supervision that conform to prescribed style and format; ability to effectively communicate information and instructions to other technicians; foreign language skills may be helpful.
Because this site operates 24/7, shift flexibility is required.
