General Description:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all facilities owned or leased by Carolina Health Centers, Inc. (CHC). The Maintenance Technician will act as the contact for emergency situations that affect CHC’s ability to open for business. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will assess and consider daily the safety of our employees, the security of our assets, and the service to our patients. This position will coordinate outside contractors or vendors for various services.

In addition, this position requires:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience:

  • Two years working experience in facility maintenance preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry is favorable

Licensure and Certification:

  • Active Driver’s License

  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Must be able to work overtime and flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to use office equipment including a computer

  • Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier, etc.

  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc. as job may require
  • Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to customer/patient elements. Exposure to the following is possible: indoor/outdoor elements, extreme heat or cold, heights (roof mounted equipment work), electricity, paints and solvents, biomedical waste such as hypodermic needles, bodily fluids, cultures, specimens, and viruses, etc. Wearing a mask in patient areas is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary contact for all site maintenance issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs)
  • Ability to operate CMMS (computerized maintenance personagement system)
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • Assists with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis
  • Monitors and replaces light bulbs in all facilities as needed
  • Makes minor plumbing repairs as needed
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
  • Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required
  • Hangs pictures and shelving as needed
  • Dismantles and installs furniture as needed
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Ability to drive to multiple sites while using company vehicle

  • Directly supervised by Facilities Manager

  • None

Interrelationships:

  • Interacts with all levels of staff across divisional and developmental lines as needed
