Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grains and Processing Division. We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Mankato, MN. In partnership with the Maintenance Manager and collaboration with Operations Management team, you will lead, motivate, mentor and provide direction to all operations within the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, supervise and delegate work assignments for maintenance personnel, with emphasis on personal safety, food safety, sanitation, plant efficiencies, and improving productivity.
  • Help develop and -implement department Best Practices.
  • Promote the CHS Value of Safety as a first consideration on the work performed.
  • Support the Department’s Vision “Effectively and Efficiently maintain the Facility’s Equipment to better serve our Customers” and Culture statement.
  • Maintain the mechanical integrity of entire facility, develop, and implement preventative maintenance procedures to reduce unplanned downtime. Determine the root causes of equipment failures.
  • Support and guide orientation and training of maintenance employees.
  • Facilitate production efficiency and achieve all goals and expectations for the department.
  • Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Perform department safety meetings, inspections and accident investigations.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of the union contract or work agreement to assure proper interpretation and administration.
  • Oversee outside maintenance support contractors working at the facility
  • Be an active member of the Food Quality, Site Security, and HACCP/GMP teams. Maintain a highly effective relationship with EH&S department members.
  • Recommend replacement or modification of existing plant equipment. Participate in long range planning, and annual shutdown planning for the Plant.
  • Maintain effective communication with QA, Engineering, Purchasing and Operations to assure production objectives/results are met.
  • Assure compliance with all divisional operating and safety procedures, including GMP, HACCP and Food Safety programs.
  • Respond to unplanned maintenance calls for troubleshooting, labor coordination, and material procurement.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Production, Operations, and/or Maintenance

Additional Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelors degree in a technical mechanical related field
  • 2+ years of experience:
    • Supervisory and/or experience leading a team
    • Plant construction and equipment to implement efficient operating procedures
  • Experience with maintenance of process equipment
  • Proficient in EAM (enterprise asset management), including Microsoft Office
  • 5 plus years hands on experience in Oilseed Processing mechanical maintenance
  • Experience with labor relations and working in a union environment
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local food safety standards
  • Experience in SAP-EAM
  • Ability to work extended hours to meet business demands
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. Compensation: This includes base wage and may consist of other earnings depending upon position within CHS, consisting of bonuses, incentives, commissions, merit pay. This position may be an opportunity for promotion.
