Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the care, maintenance and continued operability of the facility and all associated equipment in accordance with quality specifications, federal guidelines and company policies.

Essential Functions:

Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment and facilities at McCain Plover plant.
Maintain and is accountable for all assigned equipment and tools.
Coordinate work duties with Maintenance Supervisor or Lead.
Coordinate the purchase of needed repair parts with the Maintenance Supervisor/Lead.
Be available for emergency repair of equipment.
Communicate maintenance concerns and questions of operability with Maintenance Supervisor/Lead.
Perform breakdown, preventive, and predictive maintenance on food process equipment.
Accountable for work order assignments, tools, area uptime and reliability.
Document work records, work orders, communication of downtime and service needs.
Work from work orders, use computer to input data from work orders, and locate parts.
Work in a team environment, able to handle a fast paced environment with complex equipment.
Use radio communication for service calls, prioritize work, and demonstrate ability to work un-supervised.
Follow proper GMP and safety guidelines.

Other Job Duties:

Perform all duties in a safe manner and in compliance with all governing rules and regulations.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, food fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, loud noise levels, working in elevated areas (ceiling, roof using ladder or high lift).

Job Qualification Requirements:

All mechanics are required to wear fire rated uniforms and garments at all times.

Mental Aptitude:

High school diploma or equivalent (2 year technical college degree preferred).
Ability to comprehend and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Strong ability to work with others and/or independently.
Skill and Knowledge
2 years working knowledge of food processing equipment minimum, 5 years preferred.
Electrical and mechanical knowledge equivalent to certificate series program minimum, Electro-mechanical degree or Journeyman status preferred.
PLC programming experience and Robotics preferred.
A working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s, Variable speed drives, servo controls, process controllers required.
Basic metal working, tig welding, metal fabrication skills required. Experience with Lath, Mill, sheer, brake, and iron worker a plus.

Pay: $33.66 per hour
