Position Summary:

Vanderheyden is seeking a responsible and experienced Maintenance Worker for all assigned tasks and daily operations of the agency’s facilities including but not limited to renovation projects, electrical repairs, painting, masonry, grounds keeping, HVAC, carpentry, minor plumbing repairs, and custodial work.

Primary Duties & Essential Functions:

· Electrical Repairs

· Plumbing Repairs and Services

· Carpentry

· Exterior Ground Keeping

· Roofing

· Painting

· Masonry

· Miscellaneous

· Custodial

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

· Must have a valid, non-expired NYS driver’s license with no restrictions, clean MVR

- Must have High School Diploma/GED

· 3 years’ experience in the trades of assisting and maintaining buildings, rental apartments and single family homes.

· Working knowledge in being able to handle multiple types of repairs and maintenance.

· Ability to manage time and workload effectively.

· Must live within 30 minutes of Vanderheyden’s main campus in Wynantskill

· Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

· An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.

Abilities and Working Conditions:

· Must be available to work a 40 hour work week and ability to be available on rotating weekends/after hours emergency coverage

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.

· Travel to residences and agency properties

· Ability to deal positively with changing priorities in a fast paced environment.

· Display a positive, professional and proactive attitude to accomplish quality work that is in line with the agency’s mission statement.

· Seek opinions, alternative viewpoints in decision making. Understand and respect the expertise and experience of others, appreciate the different views, and the perspective and limitations of other individuals.

· Exhibits a professional, courteous demeanor with internal and external constituents.
