What does a Rouse Nighttime LPN do?

  • Create and maintain and atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit.
  • Make independent decisions regarding nursing care.
  • Checks residents daily to assure that prescribed treatment is being properly administered by nursing personnel/assistants and to evaluate their physical and emotional status. Record findings in the resident’s chart.
  • Administer professional service such as: catheterization, tube feedings suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, sputum, urine specimens, massage and exercises, care of the dead/dying, etc., in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assure that established infection control and aseptic techniques are followed by all personnel at all times and when isolation procedures become necessary.
  • Assume the authority and accountability of directing your unit/shift including assigning Nursing Assistance specific duties for resident care, assign hours, breaks, and meal periods to Nursing Assistants.
  • Ensure that the dignity of all residents is preserved.
  • Supports and follows through with team goals.
  • Enhances nursing department by working together as a team to accept ownership for tasks while exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

What are the requirements to be an Nighttime LPN at the Rouse?

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited LPN program.
  • Must possess a current LPN license issued by the PA State Board of Nursing Education & Licensure.
  • Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
  • Must possess effective communication skills.
