Locum - Physician - Pediatric Ophthalmologist Job at TLC Locum LLC
Pediatric ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis,
treatment, and management of eye conditions and diseases in infants, children, and
adolescents. They have completed extensive training in both ophthalmology and
pediatrics, making them uniquely qualified to care for young patients with eye problems.
The job description for a pediatric ophthalmologist typically includes the following
responsibilities:
1. Diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye conditions: Pediatric ophthalmologists diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions in children, including refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism), amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes), cataracts, glaucoma, and retinopathy of prematurity.
2. Pediatric eye exams: Pediatric ophthalmologists perform comprehensive eye exams on infants, children, and adolescents to detect and diagnose eye problems, as well as monitor the development of vision over time.
3. Surgical procedures: Pediatric ophthalmologists perform surgical procedures on children, such as strabismus surgery, cataract surgery, and glaucoma surgery, to improve vision and treat eye conditions.
4. Prescribe glasses and other vision aids: Pediatric ophthalmologists prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids to correct refractive errors and improve vision.
