Role Responsibilities:

  • Interventionists are a key piece to closing the achievement gap. Intervention teachers use normed data points (ie iReady) to identify students who should receive intervention services. Intervention teachers will do additional testing on identified students to determine the appropriate focus for intervention to close the gap of students. Intervention teachers will provide targeted intervention to students in their selected groups.

  • Intervention teachers will use a pre and post test at the beginning and end of each intervention cycle to measure student growth and intervention effectiveness. Intervention teachers will also progress monitor students throughout intervention block to ensure students are making progress on the intervention target goal.

  • Interventionists oversee the SIT process at HIghline Academy. Interventionists are responsible for communicating the SIT process to teachers, helping teachers in understanding forms, and collecting forms from teachers. Once a form has been turned in, intervention teachers are responsible for communicating with parents, teachers, administration, and any other necessary parties about student concerns and needs, this includes setting up a pre meeting with Highline staff, setting up and leading the SIT meeting with HIghline staff, parents, and any other necessary parties. After the initial meeting, interventionists are responsible for continuing communication with the team about the effectiveness of interventions and overall student progress. Interventionists are responsible for any subsequent meetings that are needed as the student moves through the SIT process, continuing communication with parents and classroom teachers, and involving SIT at the appropriate point in the MTSS process.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential appropriate to their teaching assignment;
  • Teaching experience appropriate to the assignment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Highline mission;
  • All teachers will be hired based on being highly qualified per ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act specifications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to walk quickly, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, grab or hold with one or both hands.
  • Be able to lift up to 40lbs without difficulty
  • The ability to sit for extended periods during group training
  • Strong classroom management- in lower elementary

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $41,530 - $71,002
