Job Description:

Herkimer College seeks qualified applicants for a Library Circulation Clerk. This is a part-time position with working hours of Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and Fridays, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Major responsibilities:

  • Opening or assisting with opening of library
  • Checking library materials in and out
  • Making sure all textbooks are processed at the beginning of each semester and assure list of textbook reserves is accurate and available.
  • Adding new books and materials into the system after they are processed
  • Adding & withdrawing instructor reserve materials
  • Supervising and training student workers at the circulation desk
  • Assisting library staff and librarians on projects as needed
  • Answering phone, assisting or redirecting calls
  • Assisting students with directions or referring them to the appropriate librarian
  • Making signage for hours of operation, holidays, library events, etc.
  • Assuring all printers are stocked and in operation, providing assistance when needed
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Minimum Required Experience and Educational Credentials:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years of previous customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work with technology
  • Microsoft Office experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and shelve books
