Basic Job Functions:

Safely install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and automation equipment in the Cold Mill. Develop and optimize Siemens various Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software for electrical/computer equipment to improve safety, quality, efficiency, yield, productivity, and costs at the Cold Mill facilities. Perform predictive/preventive maintenance procedures to promote the reliability of plant equipment. Work with contractors to support modifications and new equipment installation. Work with vendors to evaluate new technology for economic impact and implement when economically advantageous. Work with the production team to diagnose and correct plant issues. Work with electrical peers to meet department goals and expectations. Create, establish, and configure link (Ethernet, Profibus and ProfiNet) between information inputs, controllers, and outputs. Meet responsibilities of the Environmental Management System & Quality Management System including policy awareness and procedure implementation. Utilize the National Electric Code (NEC) to ensure proper electrical installation specifications. Utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software to view/analyze plant status and productivity including SCADA Simatic WinCC, Factory Talk Viewpoint. Utilize PLC to develop software to support the plant process including PLC Controller Types: Simatic Step7-1200, Allen-Bradley Control Logix and Micro Logix; PLC Software: Simatic Manager, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500; PLC Language: Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD). Design HMI programs to control auxiliaries system such as hydraulics pump, morgoil system, fume exhaust system, and trend levels, provide temperature monitoring for production operators in cold mill using HMI: Simatic WinCC Basic, Panel View, Panel View Plus; HMI Software: WinCC (TIA), Factory Talk View Studio Machine Edition, Panel Builder 32; HMI Language: C, Visual Basic (VB) Script. Utilize various electrical measurement tools including Digital Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Clamp-On Meter, Voltage Tester to troubleshoot voltage/power issues. Researched various sensors(pressure, temperature, level, and laser) to improve plant productivity. Utilize AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Mechanical and LTSpice to maintain plant drawings. Troubleshoot/implement Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) to support the plant process including VFD Drive Types: Allen-Bradley PowerFlex and Drive Software: Dive Tools. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineer and one (1) year of experience in developing PLC programs. Experience must include: PLC Types: Simatic Step7-1200, Allen-Bradley Control Logix and Micro Logix; PLC Software: Simatic Manager, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500; PLC Language: Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD). HMI Types: Simatic WinCC Basic, Panel View, Panel ViewPlus; HMI Software: WinCC (TIA), Factory Talk View Studio Machine Edition, Panel Builder 32; HMI Language: C, Visual Basic (VB) Script. AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, LTSpice. SCADA software: Simatic WinCC, Factory Talk Viewpoint. VFD Drive Types: Allen-Bradley PowerFlex and Drive Software: Dive Tools.
