What we need…

We are seeking a Learning & Development Specialist to join our team of professionals dedicated to providing best-in-class training to our employees at COCC. As part of the Talent Development Team, you will work across many departments and staff levels to help build and design learning content and initiatives. You will have access to a wide variety of learning technology and endless opportunity to engage your creativity in developing learning solutions for our teams. A background in banking/banking operations or FinTech would be great but not necessary. Experience with content authoring tools like Adobe Captivate is a strong plus. A desire to find solutions, help others and be a good teammate is a must!

What you’ll do…

  • Identify skill or knowledge gaps among COCC’s teams and develop training content in response to identified training needs. Analyze data for trends and potential gaps in training
  • Select training tools or training delivery mechanisms, based on the material being taught and the audience being targeted
  • Create and maintain course content, catalog and other training materials
  • Coordinate guest trainers or subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Assess the impact of training programs by measuring employee understanding of the subject matter
  • Actively pursue and complete training related to current and future learning platforms and tools
  • Act as resource for teaching department Training Ambassadors to develop content through GoMo
  • Act as liaison between SME's, Training Ambassadors and Talent Development
  • Become a functional expert in using the LearnUpon platform and leveraging learning tools as a system admin
  • Actively look for ways to disrupt current learning channels, innovate and pursue new ways to drive learner engagement and retention through content creation
  • Facilitate live and virtual training classes as needed
  • Maintain learning library and coordinate content versioning and system cleanup
  • Manage department level learning path creation, updates and required training completion
  • Assist Talent Development Team with monthly new hire onboarding week
  • Travel among Avon, Southington and Rocky Hill, CT locations
  • Create ad hoc reports as needed

What you’ll bring…

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred for this role but will consider appropriate work experience and/or relevant certifications.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of Training and Development experience
  • Technical aptitude to learn and master a variety of learning management platforms and content creation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to interact with various levels of staff and management while building and maintaining relationships
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Solid analytical skills; strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize, manage and execute on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Excel/reporting experience (filtering, sorting, calculations)
  • Previous banking/banking operations experience a plus
  • Experience with learning management systems - LearnUpon a plus

The salary range for this position is $62000 - $90000 / year
