Job Summary


The Minnesota Veterans Home-Minneapolis is seeking a Lead Staffing Specialist to provide leadership, guidance and consultation to others in the areas of job classification, compensation, recruitment, staffing and organizational analysis. Opportunities for special projects, strategic partnering, training, and developing and refining procedures and operations may be daily tasks for an incumbent in this position.


We are looking for talent to help us achieve our mission, strategic plan, and goals, in working collaboratively with a passionate HR team, managers, supervisors and other stakeholders to provide the best care possible for our Veterans and their families. This position may be eligible to telework.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumesclearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.


Three years of professional-level human resources experience. (NOTE: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources,Business Administration or a related field may substitute for one year of experience.) To qualify, experience must include:

  • Experience using multiple recruiting strategies and proficiency in the use of an applicant tracking system (ATS), suchas the PeopleSoft Recruiting Solutions ATS; and
  • Experience coordinating vacancy-filling/selection activities including developing job postings/announcements,determining position qualifications, reviewing applicant qualifications, developing interview questions with scoringanchors, and assisting supervisors with hiring processes; and
  • Experience conducting compensation placement through review of candidate qualifications and internal equityanalysis; and
  • Experience conducting job classification analysis on various position classifications.

Other qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of current employment laws, regulations, procedures, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills sufficient to explain sensitive, controversial, and confidential conceptsand/or decisions.
  • Ability to train and advise others in the areas of recruitment and retention.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience, including building candidate pipelines and proactive outreach.
  • Experience with a job evaluation system such as the Hay method.

Additional Requirements

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position.Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
