Selah House is adding a Lead Registered Nurse to our team! Work in a scenic, home-like environment where staff provide comprehensive and compassionate care for adolescent and adult women who are diagnosed with eating disorders. Selah House is the only licensed inpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization program (PHP) eating disorder treatment center in the state of Indiana.

Position Summary

The Lead Nurse oversees the general nursing care for clients at Selah House and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day nursing components of Selah House. Position performs these duties under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. Duties include completing assessments, administering and ordering/refilling medications per physicians' orders, reviewing the physicians' orders and medical record reviews, recording complaints, observing client behavior and collecting/reviewing lab samples/results, while supervising the other nursing staff on the same.


This is a 40-hour position with on-call expectations. There is an expectation that the Lead Nurse will work on the floor based on the unit needs. The Lead Nurse will be responsible for daily operations of the unit.

Within the organization:
Maintains frequent and close working relationships with clients, Management, Clinical Director, facility leadership, peers and vendors.

Outside the organization: May initiate and maintain working relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed.


Position Responsibilities


Essential Responsibilities

  • Serves as point of contact regarding duties and responsibilities of the Staff Nurses of Selah House Programs.

  • Completes and assists with comprehensive nursing assessments during intake of clients at Selah House, collecting data that will aid in the development of a treatment plan for the clients. Reviews physicians' orders and medical records of clients.

  • Trains and orients new nursing staff at Selah House.

  • Ensures a smooth transfer from the Residential Program to the PHP level of care for those women who are transitioning from one to the other.

  • Assists with the scheduling of nursing staff and Staff Counselors.

  • Coordinate with lead staff counselor to make daily clinical assignments.

  • Administers medications, ordering/refilling medications per physicians' orders.

  • Records complaints, observes behaviors and reports these to the DON and Medical Director.

  • Collects labs, reviews lab reports and records and reports findings to the Medical Director.

  • Assists new clients with adapting to their new environment, providing social and emotional support throughout their stay, while maintaining appropriate personal/professional interaction. Assists all clients and staff in immediate problem solving/intervention during crisis.

  • Updates and reviews client's treatment plans and privileges list on a weekly basis.

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the Nurses Stations and practicing universal precautions.

  • Responsible for the security of the medications and medical records and ensures that only relevant providers will have access.

  • Determines the presence of unhealthy/unsafe conditions in the work area and reports these conditions to the proper personnel.

  • Ensures that proper documentation is completed in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.

  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and leads Health and Wellness group as needed.

  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all policies and procedures relating to medical interventions (e.g. Medication Error Reporting, Ancillary Services, etc.).

  • Provides shift coverage protocols, ensuring that proper coverage is maintained, while providing quality care to our clients.

  • Responsible for proper and accurate shift hand-off information between shifts.

  • Assists with the daily teaching and discharge planning of the clients and documenting accordingly.

  • Assists in developing new and creative marketing strategies and presenting those strategies to the Executive Director for review. Participates in marketing opportunities as needed.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Selah House Mission and population.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Functions within the guidelines of the facility's Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.

  • Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of Selah House are understood and actively supported by the employees.

  • Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Accomplishes organization mission by completing other duties as assigned.

  • Train and mentor new clinical staff (nursing and staff counselors)

  • Rotate on-call coverage for nursing department.

  • Assists as needed with employee health activities, i.e. TB skin tests, flu shots, etc.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree from an accredited school of Nursing or higher; Current IN Nursing License (RN). 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred. At least 1 year of leadership experience required.

Other Requirements

Position requires incumbent to have a valid drivers license and vehicle insurance.
