Description:

The Senior Electrical Engineer position is responsible for assigned R&D and Engineering tasks within the surface Mining Customer Segment at Alachua facility.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design tasks and technical solutions performed in the responsibility area based on the priorities set by immediate supervisor.

  • Will work in compliance with the safety management program.
  • Maintain technical coordination and support with the Engineering staff and other departments, including, but not limited to, Production, Purchasing, Sales and Customer Service.
  • Ability to mentor Junior Electrical Designers / Engineers.
  • Project level work and management.
  • Responsible that all electrical schematics and electrical installation designs are fully documented in models, drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Perform a variety of calculations to substantiate designs and show necessary design details, section views, and dimensions on production drawings.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement guidelines and strategy to ensure standard practices, training and design quality.
  • Follow the R&D and Engineering strategic plan as prioritized by Supervisor and as communicated in performance evaluations.
  • Provide support and work closely with other functions in the organization as needed and prioritized by the Supervisor.
  • Fulfil any additional duties assigned by Engineering Manager.
  • Demonstrate respect and commitment to the IMS System (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018) taking accountability for its effectiveness and continual improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of design principles, applications, processes, equipment of high-power electrical systems.
  • Experience with electrical equipment design safety requirements especially for earth-moving machinery.
  • Ability to model, develop, specify, implement energy & power management system including the test designs, using parameter estimation, control and protection algorithms, for the high-voltage energy storage system, to achieve advanced functions and performance optimization.
  • Able to apply data-driven approach to derive and validate advanced technology in electrification.
  • Work experience in development of production-level software/firmware for Energy and HVDC power management system.
  • Extremely attentive to details, rigorous revisions, and standard assurance especially related to electrification.
  • 7 years of experience in CAD package, proficiency in 2D & 3D (Siemens NX and Zuken E3 preferred).
  • MS Productivity suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Working with PDM system (Teamcenter) to manager Bill of Materials (BOM) and Part Numbers.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering Change Notifications and revision control of schematics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with PLC’s (EPEC or IFM preferred) and integration of position sensors, sensors for motion control, vision sensors, safety technology, process sensors, IO-links, identification systems, machine health monitoring, systems for mobile machine, communication technologies, power supplies and linked accessories.
  • You will be leading the solution development and product design modifications on various components (e.g., product design, spare parts, tools, and documentation) – some of which will resolve warranty matters with suppliers.
  • Experience with High Voltage transformers (1 megawatt) for electrical mobile machinery.
  • Good understanding of common electrical engineering standards for mobile equipment product development (3D modelling, design and drafting, GD&T).
