About the Position
The Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Technical Director supports the Implementation and Learning Division in the LAC region through strategic positioning, facilitating local partnerships and client relationships, as well as the leadership and management of high-quality proposals and programs. The LAC Director may also support field programs on a short-term basis as needed in a technical, operational, or management capacity in other regions. This is a senior leadership position in the company's Implementation and Learning Division that reports directly to the Division Vice President.
Responsibilities
Business Development:

  • Facilitates further growth in the company's practice areas and adjacent practice areas by providing leadership, proactively seeking new opportunities, and capitalizing on existing professional networks.
  • Serves as technical lead for relevant proposals, in addition to other key roles such as capture, technical proposal writing, proposal review, and recruiting.
  • Cultivates partnerships with critical stakeholders in the region including civil society, private sector, and government organizations.
  • Maximizes Dexis' position under IDIQs held.

Technical Leadership and Program Management:

  • Provides technical guidance, expertise, and support to ongoing programs.
  • Provides management and oversight of assigned projects in compliance with contract and USAID regulations, with at least annual management trips to project sites.
  • Supports divisional strategies, in compliance with organizational policies, priorities, and procedures and donor regulations.
  • Represents Dexis in coordination with the Center for Global Security and Stabilization at relevant industry forums, technical working groups, events, internal learning exchanges, and conferences.
  • Authors and/or reviews blogs, white papers, and case studies

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in international development, social science, public policy, management or another related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the management and implementation of foreign assistance programs, at least five in the LAC region.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience (including but not limited to mentoring, training, and guiding staff)
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: economic growth, private sector development, climate-resilience, public health, anti-corruption, food security, conflict and violence prevention, stabilization, and local capacity building.
  • Experience managing USAID indefinite delivery, Indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts highly preferred.
  • Experience with USAID's policies and procedures. .
  • Strong analytic and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, and ability to work in challenging and difficult environments.
  • Ability to mentor and coach staff in full range of proposal and project management tasks.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
