Lab Assistant- Histology - Full-Time Job at Covenant Physician Partners
We are hiring a Fulltime Lab Assistant to join our pathology laboratory at Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates / The Maryland Center for Digestive Health located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Shift: Monday - Thursday
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Provide administrative assistance to the lab.
- Safely handles patient specimens in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collects specimens from the in-house surgery center and evaluates the specimens for acceptability, rejecting any unacceptable specimens.
- Accessions specimens and prepares the appropriate cassettes and slides for use in grossing, embedding and cutting.
- Assists technologists by preparing special requests for stains.
- Organize cases in preparation for the pathologists.
- Shipping requested slides for outside facilities, documenting the outbound and inbound progression.
- Files cassettes, slides, requisitions and other documents related to the lab.
About the Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or associate degree preferred.
- 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in an any combination from a regionally accredited college or university
