    Position Purpose
    To provide support to the teachers by helping to set up tasks and implement instructional processes. This job involves preparing activities for the day under the instruction of the teacher, supervising the children under their care, and ensuring the classroom stays organized. Due to their students’ young age, kindergarten teacher assistants take on a combination of educational and child-care duties. This role is well suited to people who are patient, have good attention to detail, and have experience of working with children.


    Essential Functions
    • Ability to work with young children.
    • Will facilitate small group instruction.
    • Will work under the direction of classroom teacher.
    • Will assist with classroom paperwork and classroom displays.
    • Will supervise students.

    Equipment
    Uses standard teaching equipment such as personal computers, printer, telephone, pens and pencils, dry erase markers, timer, etc.


    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.


    Pay Rate
    $15.00 an hour


    Work Schedule
    182 days per year
    7.25 hours per day


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Willingness to work with children.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
    • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
    • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
    • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
    • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
    • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
    • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
    • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
    • Computer skills in Excel, Word, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Publisher and PowerPoint.
