GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the care of infants and children enrolled in the childcare service and Kidz Kingdom programs. This position will ensure a safe, clean, and fun environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have a minimum of previous childcare experience with the ability to communicate with children from ages twelve (12) weeks to ten (10) years of age required. Must have good organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Become knowledgeable in all Parks Plus Fitness Center programs and services.
  • Enthusiastically support and promote PPFC membership and other District-wide events and programs.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, implementing daily activities, and other programming activities, including but not limited to Parent’s Night Out, Friday Night Fun, Parent’s Day Out, and Adventures and Outings.
  • Supervise, interact with, and apply age appropriate guidance to children during activities during the entirety of one’s shift (when children are present) in a positive and enriching way; and the use of equipment, tools, and materials consistent with the manufacturer or product directions or specifications and use of industry standards.
  • Greet and acknowledge members and guests entering Kidz Kingdom in a timely manner.
  • Arrive on time (minimum 5 minutes early) for respective shifts to ensure that Kidz Kingdom opens on time and/or the program begins on time and is maintained as a safe environment for children.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment at all times and assist in safety checks of room and equipment on a weekly basis.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment daily and report needed repairs promptly.
  • Check news book each shift.
  • Complete required bookwork; checks kids in, out, and at end of shift.
  • Answer all phone calls within 4 rings when at the Service Desk, direct calls to the correct Park District employee, and record messages when needed ensuring that the message is delivered to the correct individual.
  • Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
  • Follow the Wheaton Park District and Parks Plus Fitness Center policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
  • Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC

Must have and maintain: a current CPR/AED certification for infant/child and certified as a Mandated Reporter for abused and neglected children.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: frequently move about the facility and position ones’ self to move children weighing up to 50 lbs.; and must be able to talk, see in color, hear, and smell with the ability to feel.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position will primarily work in an office environment will be exposed to dust, cleaning chemicals, and child illnesses.

SALARY

$15.00 per hour

HOURS

Substitute Teacher on an as needed basis.
