Kennel Attendant/Veterinary Assistant Job at Roslyn Greenvale Vet Group
We are seeking a Kennel Assistant/Veterinary Assistant looking to join our hospital in northern Nassau County. This position can be full or part time with a very flexible schedule.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is considering a career in veterinary medicine or simply loves animals. Previous experience in an animal hospital is not necessary. This is an entry level position and we are happy to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities include the care and feeding of boarding animals, giving baths, general cleaning, and assisting doctors and technicians with medical procedures.
This is a physically demanding job that requires heavy lifting (40 pounds), standing for long periods of time, and the ability to walk and handle unruly patients. The ideal candidate is proactive, empathetic, and will enjoy providing excellent care to both our clients and patients.
A typical work day will include walking, cleaning and feeding boarding dogs. Getting to know them, playing with them and giving them lots of love. We also board cats who will need to be cared for and pampered as well. Bathing and drying dogs as scheduled. The opportunity exists to learn how to assist doctors and veterinary technicians as needed with medical services. This includes learning and providing safe and proper restraint for pedicures, injections, blood draws, radiographs, ultrasounds, catheter placement and surgical prep. General cleaning including sweeping, mopping and laundry. Good candidates will be proactive and able to work independently. Expect a busy, but fun and satisfying work environment. Pay is commensurate with experience.
