GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: McKinley Climatic Lab, Eglin AFB

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential job functions include assemble required test fixtures, aircraft cables, other support cables and chains, and associated hardware. Rig test assemblies including: chains, cables, steel and aluminum trusses, and overhead hoist. Position, with a forklift or crane, large diameter steel ducting within one inch of an aircraft tail assembly while the aircraft is positioned on jacks. Place and position test items within the test chamber in preparation for tie down, affix cables or chains to the test items, and secure all attachment points per the recommended and accepted guidelines. Install tie downs on aircraft and other test equipment per government test engineer design and instructions and per MCL safety requirements. Configure and install rain, solar radiation, and icing frames or spray bars to meet test requirements. Measure and adjust required rainfall rates, dust emissions, water temperatures, and flow rates.




Job Requirements:


GENERAL DUTIES:
Support numerous test and test related functions within the MCL including: set-up and tear-down of all test fixtures, exhaust ducting, aircraft tie-down components, support equipment, test booths, and all other miscellaneous equipment necessary to support a climatic environmental test in any chamber. Works under the close supervision of higher-level personnel who guide the junior specialist to resolve basic tasks. Able to perform duties normally associated with heavy equipment mechanics or operators in addition to specialized skills associated with operating, installing, and maintaining specialized equipment to simulate a wide variety of environmental conditions on a large scale.

OTHER DUTIES: Provide a single point of contact and a mission controller for environmental tests. Provide test assembly and test conduct support. Ensure the safety of all personnel in the chambers at all times. Winterize and de-winterize mobile support equipment. Operate and maintain all vehicles assigned to the MCL for tugs, forklifts, and pick-up trucks. Operate and maintain all test simulation equipment. Operate and maintain all aircraft rigging equipment. Operate and maintain all general test support equipment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma. Incumbents must have either: Formal training acquired through vocational certification, military service school training or certified apprenticeship program in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, cement, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair, welding or painting (automotive or industrial) OR 3 years verifiable experience in one of the following disciplines: construction work, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies. Supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in temperature extremes from -65 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to lift loads as heavy as 50 pounds. Works at heights up to 80 feet in elevation from ladders or high reach equipment.
