Position: Junior Data Analyst

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Job Duties:

  • Working under the direction of the Application Supervisor, the Applications Analyst (AA) functions as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users for the ancillary clinical systems belonging to but not limited to the School of Dentistry.
  • perform data analysis and assist in interpretation of results using a variety of techniques to support business practices
  • work with vendors as appropriate to ensure smooth operation of purchased products, reporting, and resolution of issues
  • analyze the department's functions, goals, workflow, and information needs
  • act as the project manager to analyze the planning of projects, design, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate information systems
  • complete project tasks and assignments as directed which includes the build, maintenance, and enhancement of applications
  • perform quality assurance, system integration and testing of the applications
  • develop and document internal procedures, assists in the development of user training aids and may train end users in workflow and use of the application
  • participate in an on-call rotation for system and application support which involves being available after hours for troubleshooting and issue escalation
  • Support various Applications such as: AxiUm, XDR, 3Shape, and other applications used in the School of Dentistry.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with one, or more, of the following applications: AxiUm, XDR, 3Shape, and or other related Dentistry applications.
  • Competent in relational database management systems like Oracle, database modeling, data migration, data warehouse concepts, business intelligence systems and data integration processes.
  • A working knowledge of Oracle 12 or higher, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL, Crystal Reports, database business intelligence platforms such as Business Object Server, Tableau Server or Oracle Warehouse Builder
  • Awareness of database administration, managing server hardware, storage and backup devices.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of multiple areas of focus in application specialty areas. Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision-making.
  • Must be detail oriented and have a knack for probing for information, in order to fully understand the underlying needs that influence how a system should be configured/ organized.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player and work with people of all backgrounds, at all levels.
  • Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey technical information to all levels of application users in a specific, clear, and concise manner.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with business owners, team members, and management.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with information systems technology, which also includes Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems.
  • Experience in writing SQL queries, procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Demonstrated skill in system workflow and business process flow analysis and design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Report Developer or similar job function.
