POSITION SUMMARY:


Participate as a senior member of the Infrastructure support team. As a Network Engineer, this position will focus on solution design and have the responsibility of installing and supporting systems in our environment.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

Network Equipment: switches, routers, firewalls, WIFI controllers and access points
Servers: Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, server hardware, storage area networks, virtual server software
Security: Firewalls, Active Directory, Public and Staff wireless
Digital Video: hardware and software.



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible network experience with at least several of the following skills: Network switching and routing, VMware, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL database administration, Intel based system hardware, VOIP, and advanced storage solutions, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and have own transportation to customer sites.
  • Certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, or recognized authority a plus.


EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:


  • Troubleshoots complex system failures and determines root cause of system outages. Recommends future facing solutions to legacy systems. Repairs problems and works with outside service personnel and contractors as needed.
  • Designs, installs, monitors, and maintains network equipment, switching and routing gear, security software, appliances and VOIP systems including interfaces to the public switched telephone network.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, and administers MS Server Operating Systems including Active Directory, File/Print and Exchange.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, and administers VMware virtualization software, management tools and interfaces.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, and administers digital video systems including system management tools and applications
  • Coordinate vendor and manufacturer support when necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
  • Assists other IT staff during new project implementation and in resolving system issues. Provides general consulting assistance to other CCITC team members.
  • Responsible for establishing standards, creating procedures and training operations staff for the routine and daily maintenance of networked systems.
  • Audits backup programs.
  • Participate in second level on-call schedule for service outages.
  • Advise and assist with the preparation of the capital and operating budget for network system.
  • Keep skills updated regarding new technologies, product offerings, and industry best practices.
  • Performs duties in a manner that is consistent with the CCITC Mission, Vision and Core Values.

  • Requires the ability to utilize a variety of reference, descriptive and advisory data and information such as computer documentation, lists, service requests, status reports, computer manuals, databases, technical operating manuals, procedures and guidelines.
  • Requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing with computer users, department personnel, vendor representatives and computer service personnel.

Environmental Adaptability

  • Work is normally performed in an office environment under generally safe and comfortable conditions with a limited risk of injury.
  • This position is remote eligible.
  • Federal law requires that any individual selected and hired into this position be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Only those individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption are excepted from this legal requirement. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination unless a medical or religious exemption is approved.
  • Work may occasionally be performed in other safe and comfortable surroundings without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.



COMPENSATION:


This position is an exempt, salaried position. The salary range is $79,123 to $88,608.

Also provided is a comprehensive employee benefits package including health and dental insurance and income continuation and life insurance, paid leave, holidays, deferred compensation, flexible benefit program, and Wisconsin Retirement System.
