Department Overview
The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Projects and Construction (P&C) within Electric Operations is accountable for the delivery of greater than $2B in annual Capital work, stretching from programs like Capacity and Pole Replacements to State Infrastructure projects. Work Readiness and Integration is Project and Construction’s centralized data insights and analytics team focused on in-depth assessments of P&C work delivery to aid P&C in the execution of our annual work portfolio and associated goals.
We provide one source of truth for the data, with a common set of tools, methodology, and analytics. Our span extends from portfolio planning in collaboration with our partner organizations on thorough daily workplan management to ensuring consistent, efficient data support needed for all P&C groups involved in work execution.
Position Summary:
The Bundling and Integration Principal will manage all aspects of developing and integrating successful work bundling strategies for P&C as well as integrating those strategies across all other electric work. This includes but is not limited to leading the standup of the pilot technology solution to visualize the bundling, integration of the pilot into long term solutions, and non-technology process-based approaches to more effective bundling of work. This position must be a self-starter, there is no “recipe” to effective work bundling. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of both up front asset planning and electric work execution. Bundling is not just grouping jobs into a clearance. It is also not just up-front planning before work is put into a workplan. It is all of the above and more, and as such requires extensive knowledge in both planning and work execution.
There are many individuals working on various components of bundling work each from their own perspective / portion of the work planning and execution pipeline. The successful candidate will need to work across all these areas to understand their viewpoints and needs. At the same time, there needs to be quick wins to gain efficiency improvement while waiting for longer term solutions to develop. The successful candidate will need to be a tenacious self-starter who does not let the “long term solution” slow them down from implementing short term solutions that have a cost benefit that justifies doing so.
The successful candidate will have a steadfast focus on safety and compliance, in-depth knowledge of PG&E’s operations, be comfortable leading cross-functional teams, maintaining strategic and analytical oversight, communicating with leadership as appropriate, developing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to the appropriate work planning and execution processes.
This position may require travel for on-site meetings and may also require occasional irregular work hours to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Lead work bundling strategy and execution for all of P&C. Lead integration of immediate, short-term P&C developed work bundling strategies and tools with larger cross electric and cross operations solutions.
Define and gain alignment on measurements to gage and quantify the effectiveness of work bundling strategies being put in place.
Align longer horizon up front asset plan type bundling strategies with immediate day-to-day work bundling opportunities to balance immediate benefit short term solutions with a long-term strategy and roadmap.
Build partnership across both operations and engineering. Implement both tools and processes to operationalize bundling strategies.
Ensure all bundling approaches operate from a single source of truth for all P&C data with adherence to Systems of Record (and ensure needed data quality).
Develop and cultivate rapport with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful PG&E bundling program execution. Lead creative resolution of program risks and issues identified.
Lead development of performance metrics and compliance processes, aligned with appropriate governance protocols. Ensure adherence to all requirements and compliance obligations through excellent end user experience focused data insights.
Proactively create insight-driven analytics that will drive accountability, action, execution and workplan completion. Lead an outstanding, customer service focused culture with all partners. Other responsibilities as assigned
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Annual Minimum: $ 123,000.00
Annual Maximum: $ 207,000.00
Qualifications:
Minimum
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
Eight (8) years of relevant experience in areas such as: electric construction, maintenance, service planning, asset management, engineering, compliance, or quality control/assurance.
Desired
PMP certification and / or MBA with an emphasis in a quantitative (e.g. data analysis) or analytical discipline.
Prior experience with Electric / Gas Distribution or Electric Transmission programs or projects.
Prior experience developing partnerships with internal stakeholders across engineering, construction, and support ops.
