Summary: The (1st Shift) Ink Technician will be responsible for maintaining an onsite ink-blending facility within customer's location. The TSR will match and blend colors as required by the customer, maintain stocking levels for all materials, attend customer & production meetings, following up with managers and pressmen daily for ink performance issues, supplies, etc., maintain records & logs/reports, spot checks of raw material, and general housekeeping for a clean work area.

Requirements: knowledge of Ink Blending and Matching of colors, Color Theory, Color Matching Skills, math skills, ability to resolve technical issues, knowledge/experience of Lab Equipment, and effective communication/basic computer skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain reasonable minimum stocking levels for all materials.
  • Print out formulas for daily orders
  • Must be able to calculate the pounds needed for each job ticket.
  • Reviews and maintains adequate inventory levels
  • Weigh, mix, QC, computer, label and prepare order for shipment
  • Color match, prints lab work
  • Attend the daily production meeting and talk with all floor managers at least twice a day.
  • Must be well versed on Xrite Spectro densitometers.
  • Maintain accurate ink consumption reports by job number.
  • Operate a clean and professional in–plant.
  • Housekeeping, well-maintained work areas and clean presentable uniforms are mandatory.
  • Know the customer’s needs.
  • Fill out and submit non-conformance reports for any ink that is out of spec.
  • May be required to make service calls or deliveries after hours.
  • Must be familiar with mix master or EvolvePro Software.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED (minimum)
  • Extensive knowledge of color theory.
  • Color matching skills.
  • High level of printing press trouble shooting skills.
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to respond to and resolve technical questions in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Five years past experience in the Ink Industry.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. In-Plant personnel are required to lift no more than 50 lbs as needed to perform the job at hand. In addition, may be required to stack material, load, or unload pallets if needed.
