About us

The Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic is a California Licensed Psychology Clinic serving Sonoma County as an affordable, non-profit counseling clinic and training program for Marriage & Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Professional Clinical Counselors, and Psychologist Trainees and Associates. We offer positions for pre- and post-Masters and Doctoral level interns. Each year, the Lomi Clinic provides over 10,000 hours of low-cost, sliding-scale mental health care to our community. Clinic interns and staff provide brief and long-term therapy to individuals, adults, adolescents, and children, as well as couples and families. Group therapy and psychoeducational classes are also offered.

For over thirty-five years, the Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic has served a diverse population in terms of socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, gender identity, and sexual orientation status. We have a grant-supported program offering short-term therapy for persons who are impoverished or homeless, and we also receive referrals from local social agencies, schools, hospitals, and crisis clinics.

Who this position is for:

A licensed Psychologist, Marriage & Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Clinical Counselor who is interested in providing support and guidance for new therapists in the field. Someone passionate about community mental health and supporting Lomi’s mission of providing accessible and affordable therapy and education for the diverse Sonoma County community.

General Responsibilities:

  • Complete supervision agreement. Provide a minimum of one hour of direct, individual, face-to-face supervision (telehealth is permitted) every week during which the trainee/intern accrues hours.
  • Review cases.
  • Review audio tapes and video of recorded sessions.
  • Monitor high-risk cases.
  • Provide clear feedback, both positive and negative, about the trainee/intern’s performance.
  • The supervisor is available to the trainee 100% of the time the trainee/intern accrues SPE (Supervised Professional Experience).
  • Ensure that all SPE is in compliance with the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct of the Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology/APA.
  • Stay current on all licensing board requirements for supervision and application requirements.
  • Complete the required beginning supervision training as required by BBS and BOP. Complete a six-hour course in supervision every two years.
  • Review documentation through EHR Your Way (electronic health record system) and sign the following documents:

o Initial Assessment

o Treatment Plan

o Quarterly Reports

o Discharge summary

  • Monitor quality of documentation so it meets the standards of Lomi, licensing board, and/or Beacon.
  • Enroll in Beacon if needed for billing.
  • Maintenance of clear professional boundaries (e.g., does not use the trainee/intern as a confidant or involve the trainee/intern in conflicted dynamics within the setting)
  • Respect for human diversity and individual differences that may exist between the supervisor and trainee. The supervisor makes it clear to the trainee that discussions of such differences are safe and appropriate.
  • Hourly pay is based on the supervisory hour.
