IAM SUPPORT ANALYST Job at University of Wisconsin–Madison
Our IAM team acquires, develops, and maintains identity and access systems, products, and tools for the entire University of Wisconsin (UW) System and, more specifically, UW-Madison. This includes designing, planning, developing, operating, and constantly improving our use and implementation of technology.
The Opportunities:
One role serves on the IAM Support Team which will liaise with the DoIT Help Desk and be a first point of triage for the IAM Team providing functional and technical product support leveraging documented procedures and ensuring well-defined, University-supported processes to eliminate confusion and provide an enhanced user experience.
One role serves on the Provisioning and Eligibility Team specifically providing functional and technical product support working with our custom developed person and identity repository. This is the authoritative source for identity data both at UW-Madison and UW-System and is used by both entities for the majority of enterprise IT systems. For this role specifically, knowledge and experience in IAM or PL/SQL development is a plus, we will teach eager candidates who are willing to learn!
While these roles will sit on different teams within Identity and Access Management, the roles are charged with concerted efforts to increase awareness of IAM services, documentation and best practices which will result in a more knowledgeable user base and more realistic expectations of IAM services and systems.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a strong technical acumen who has experience with technical product support, managing projects or products, and/or technology. You'll need excellent communication skills to help represent the important work we do to technical and non-technical audiences and to effectively guide a team. Additionally, customer service skills and an eye for operational excellence are a must since you'll work with our partners to implement technical solutions. To be successful, you'll need experience taking initiative and ownership, managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and working with leadership to manage partner and stakeholder expectations.
- 20% Integrates, identifies, troubleshoots, monitors, and resolves basic supported services, systems, network, and application problems according to established processes and procedures
- 15% Serves as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, communicating issue updates and resolutions
- 15% Creates user training materials and basic technical documentation regarding system operations and changes
- 10% Configures, maintains, upgrades, develops, and tests IT systems and services in alignment with industry best practices
- 20% Assists with running, maintaining, and operating technical systems and infrastructure
- 20% Shares operational support responsibilities within a collaborative team

Associate's Degree
- Experience managing technical systems including familiarity with hosting, maintaining, or supporting production IT services.
- Demonstrated ability and interest in learning new technology and tools quickly.
- Technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work and communicate (oral and written) independently or with teams taking into account feedback and ideas from various sources, including technical leads, customers, and peers, to see issues to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of technologies or policies used in IAM (e.g. group management, account management, active directory, etc.).
- Familiarity and experience with modern iterative practices (e.g. DevOps, Agile).
- Experience working in a higher education IT environment.
- Knowledge and/or skills in PL/SQL Programming or experience with at least one contemporary programming language (Java, Python, Ruby, .NET,etc) or scripting skills (e.g. Powershell, Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl) and a willingness to learn.
Full Time: 100%
This position is eligible for any of the following: 100% remote work; partial remote work; or fully on-site. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer.

DoIT is recruiting for two positions, one renewable/ongoing and one terminal. The terminal position will initially last one year, with the possibility of extending the position up to a maximum of two years and/or it may turn into an ongoing appointment based on program need and funding availability.
