Job Description:

While reporting to and under the general direction and training of their Supervisor, perform all aspects of the job responsibilities in a safe, satisfactory and timely manner according to varied production runs in order to meet scheduled deadlines. As unexpected events can occur during production or testing, work times can vary including evenings and weekends in order to maintain schedule.

The successful candidate will be driven to learn in a fast- paced environment, being skilled, reliable and professional. The primary role will include field commissioning of units and/or systems while providing owner FAT demonstrations off site, ability to travel is required. In addition, to traveling for startup, FAT, and commissioning you will be responsible for warranty service and repair as needed. While the primary role is off site you will also be an active participant of the testing team.

Job Duties:

  • While coordinating with other disciplines/departments, as needed, lead and/or execute all phases of work so the units can be started and tested bringing each system into a fully operational state, debugging and remedying all portions of the unit/system as required, ensuring trouble free reliable operation.
  • Pre-startup work is required to bring each system into a fully operational state which includes, but is not limited to, review of design engineering drawings, bill of materials, various checklists and loading PLC or VFD programs; therefore having adequate computer skills and the desire to learn new programs efficiently and effectively is preferred.
  • Prior to connecting power and energizing each unit, check and document the integrity of all components and their installation.
  • Upon energizing equipment, document and perform; motor rotational check, belt and alignment checks, refrigerant charge optimization, control sequences of operation, full-load and part-load performance, etc.
  • Proactively work to identify and resolve any possible errors, omissions and/or deficiencies prior to Quality Control and/or field commissioning processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to operators and owners regarding the installation, startup and operation of Factory HVAC systems
  • Assist in training other technicians and staff when applicable.
  • Prepare records and reports describing procedures, actions taken and recommended solutions.
  • Prepare and submit requests for supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency warranty service repair requests.
  • Knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations, guidelines, safety orders, departmental operating procedures and safety regulations sufficient to insure that work is performed in compliance with applicable law.
  • Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices. Follow safety rules/procedures; avoid known hazards in the work environment.
  • Review safety procedures before beginning each job with known hazards.
  • Ability to establish good relationships and credibility with customers.
  • Excellent at managing time, priorities and expenses.
  • Able to work independently while being a team player.
  • Ability to drive and safely maintain an assigned Company vehicle, and travel to site as assigned.

Special Skills:

  • Must be able to work safely with live rotating equipment and high voltage up to 600 volts.
  • Class 1 Div 2 standards and work practices regarding HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Industrial Plant work practices regarding Safety, LOTO, work permitting, etc. is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical activities required by the job duties, including occasional lifting and moving up to 65 pounds individually and greater weights with assistance; ability to bend, stretch, stoop, climb, and perform other physical acts associated with the job duties.
  • Overnight and extended travel required.

Certification Required:

  • EPA Certification
  • Texas HVAC Technician Registration
  • TWIC
  • Basic Plus
  • Passport

Work Experience Required:

  • Five plus years in the HVAC Industry
  • Commercial or Industrial HVAC experience
  • Knowledge of controls
  • Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams with regards to troubleshooting and identifying errors and omissions.
  • Above average control and refrigeration circuit troubleshooting ability.
