The estimated base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $165,000 per year.
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, Architectural Specialties (AS), the Human Resources Manager, AS will partner with operations leaders and manufacturing teams by providing HR support and solutions to people and business challenges across multiple California manufacturing facilities. The incumbent will have the responsibility for ensuring compliance with Federal and California State employment law in the areas of workforce management, staffing, employee relations, leaves of absence, benefits administration, compensation planning, etc. This role will drive the execution of HR initiatives and processes that provide for continuous improvement in the HR function at each location plus organizational growth and transformation.


What you'll be doing:


HR Business Partnership:

  • Leads and directs plant HR activities across multiple sites to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.

  • Develops employment guidelines that adheres to California labor codes while still meeting strategic business objectives.

  • Conducts regular compliance audits of each California company location.

  • Supports organization change, integration, and continuous improvement efforts (such as Lean and acquisition integration activities) and collaborates with plant leadership to ensure successful change management approaches through effective planning and analysis, communication of change initiatives, full and active leadership support and employee involvement.

  • Coaches and develops plant leadership team members providing HR guidance and input on operational plans and decisions and maintaining a forward-looking staffing plan.

  • Maintains regular touch point meetings with individual leadership team members and front-line supervisors at each of the sites.

  • Supports and develops effective performance management and employee development systems for the salaried and production workforce.

  • Develops and implements Human Resource strategies and programs for production wage reviews, employee onboarding and offboarding, DEI initiatives, and fosters employee engagement.

  • Tracks and analyzes plant HR metrics to determine root cause and develops and executes action plans to address problem areas.

  • Drives clear communication to all employees regarding change management in areas of programs and policies.

  • Engages in practical and rational employee relations including investigations, discipline, coaching and counseling to employees.


Travel:
Moderate; approximately 25%. Position will be primarily support our Oakland, CA facility in addition to facilities in Lincoln and Gardena, CA.


Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.

  • Well-rounded knowledge and experience across all areas of HR.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment and labor laws with specific expertise in California Employment Laws.

  • Strong business acumen with clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy.

  • Ability to collaborate with, engage, inspire, and influence organizational leaders and employees across all areas of business.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency with HR information systems (e.g., SuccessFactors Employee Central).

  • Effective communication and presentations skills.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive human resources experience in a multi-shift, manufacturing environment including leadership of HR associates.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR helpful.

  • SHRM California Law HR Specialty Credential preferred.
