Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for daily execution of Human Resources functions to include employee relations, compensation, training, on/offboarding, terminations, and compliance with employment laws. The Human Resources Generalist works directly with management and assists the CHRO and Human Resources Manager with the development and implementation of HR initiatives and special projects.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Communications, Business, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted. Experience in the mortgage or retail banking industry preferred.
  • Minimum four years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist or two years as a Junior HR Business Partner. Certified HR Professional (PHR/SHRM-CP) or willingness to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Previous experience using HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel
  • Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
  • Proficient PC and MS Office skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

Essential Job Functions:

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with Division and Branch Leadership to deliver strategic Human Resources support to assigned regions.
  • Coaching, counseling, and guiding managers on proper execution of employee relations matters such as coaching, disciplinary actions and performance management, recommending appropriate courses of action. Partner with Human Resource Manager as needed.
  • Participating in management of compensation and employee change requests in HRIS, including but not limited to salary increases, bonuses, title changes, transfers, and commission plan changes.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of mortgage loan origination compensation and communicating effectively with Payroll and Compliance to ensure compensation and commission plans are in line with company policies as well as Federal and State regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate employment data within the HRIS system and in electronic employment files as applicable.
  • Fielding employee inquiries within HR department’s purview or redirecting to the appropriate department.
  • Facilitating the employee termination process, including but not limited to preparing EEO analysis, termination of accesses, and preparing and sending separation/termination documents.
  • Conducting exit interviews, analyzing data, and making recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Participating in HR department and management meetings as necessary.
  • Reviewing and processing unemployment claims.
  • Crafting and updating job descriptions.
  • Drafting communication materials for company-wide distribution.
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits statues and regulations.
  • Effectively communicating, working with, and building relationships with all levels of constituents including culturally and linguistically diverse staff members and external candidates and/or vendors, while operating in a fast-paced customer service driven environment.
  • Based upon assignment, contribute to special projects and HR initiatives through training/facilitation of specific content i.e., Cultural Ambassadors, DEI initiatives, On/Offboarding, Health and Wellness, etc.
  • Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
