The Human Resources Generalist is a mid-level position reporting to the City Clerk. The position is assigned to Grade 13 of the City's Classification and Compensation Plan, which has a pay range of $18.61 to $23.63 per hour, depending upon education and experience. Job Summary: Under general supervision, this position primarily coordinates human resources activities by maintaining the employee personnel manual and HR procedures, as well as answering employee questions regarding compensation, benefits, policies, and procedures, and serving as a link between management and employees to help resolve work-related problems. The HR Generalist will supervise the payroll clerk and assist administrative officers and/or department supervisors in the training, development, and appraisal of employees. Trial Service Period: 90 days (employment remains at-will at all times)

Minimum Training and Experience: Position requires either a bachelor's degree in related field and two to four years of responsible, relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid West Virginia driver's license. May be required to possess or obtain additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.

Physical Requirements: The physical activity level is sedentary and includes primarily non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Position involves sitting, walking, reaching, bending, crouching, and stooping. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to ten pounds. Position requires close, distance, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.
