Under the direction of the HR Director, the Human Resources Business Partner will provide a broad range of HR services in support of business objectives of one or more business units. As a vital member of our HR team, you will collaborate with managers, employees, and the HR team to improve organizational capability through day to day HR support, culture change, and support of the continued development of our workplace culture.

In this role, you'll partner on the daily functions of the HR department ensuring efficient operations while providing an outstanding employee experience. This may include ownership or support of full cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee experience management, HRIS/ATS implementation, performance turnaround, and HR compliance. This role will support the implementation of a broad range strategic HR projects and programs.

Your Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in human resources in generalist, business partner, or specialist role.
  • 3 years of experience working with California labor law.
  • Demonstrated HR experience in the following disciplines: talent acquisition, HR business partner, HR generalist, training, HRIS/ATS administration, policy management, employee relations, performance management, and change management.
  • Ability to design employee experience programs that position employees for success and support their performance and growth during their tenure.
  • Ability to support business goals and people strategy and recommend new improvements in people practices.
  • Ability to own and drive multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based on company and team objectives.
  • Role model for Inclusion and Belonging.
  • Ability to be a strong team player on a small team - willing to wear multiple hats and consider no task too small.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence (EQ) and an empathetic communication style that fosters connection, collaboration, and confidence.
  • Ability to lead efficiently under pressure, drive projects to completion, and meet deadlines.

Our Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing diversity and inclusion programs and passion for inclusion and diversity.
  • Experience working with Fuse HRIS or similar systems.
  • Coaching orientation and facilitation skills to support an inclusive culture of belonging.
  • Confidence and ability to influence others, facilitate presentations, processes, and coach/advise managers.
  • Industry experience in non-profit sector.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification strongly desired.

Work Environment and Location: This is a primarily remote role that will require quarterly travel into our Santa Cruz, CA office. Employees who live within commuting distance are welcome to work in our office on a hybrid or full time basis, as they prefer. Candidates residing in California are preferred.


Compensation: The compensation range for this role is $96360/$116800. Ecology Action offers a competitive salary, and a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and flexible spending benefits; a 401k-retirement plan with a 4% match; and group life insurance. Final salary determined based on skills and experience of final candidate
