The House Nursing Supervisor is responsible to the nurse manager of support services manages coordination of patient care services hospital wide.House Nursing Supervisors advocate for and allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards and practice. They promote shared decision-making and professional autonomy by providing input, their own and that of their staff.

House Nursing Supervisors coordinate activities between defined areas and provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. They facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others.House Nursing Supervisors serve as a link between nursing personnel and other healthcare disciplines and workers throughout the organization and within the healthcare community.House Nursing Supervisors have responsibility for exhibiting and supporting implementation the vision, mission, philosophy, core values, evidence-based practice, and standards of the organization, and nursing services hospital wide.

House Nursing Supervisors are accountable for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced, in that they contribute to the day-to-day operations, standards of care, and attainment of goals of the organization.House Nursing Supervisors collaborate with the nurse managers, nursing directors, and others in organizational innovation, implementation, and evaluation.

TheHouse Nursing Supervisor follows standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and report violations through appropriate chain of command. TheHouse Nursing Supervisor reports safety concerns and hazardous conditions in a timely and appropriate manner.

To fulfill the responsibility described above, the House Nursing Supervisor, in collaboration with nursing personnel and members of other disciplines, performs the following:

  • Ensure that care is delivered with respect for individuals' rights and preferences.
  • Participate and evaluate nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making involving staff.
  • Accept organizational accountability for services provided to recipients as the Admission representative, off hours and weekends.
  • Coordinate nursing care with other healthcare disciplines, and assist in integrating services across the continuum of health care.
  • Assume responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel using approved staffing matrix and mix. Assignments reflect appropriate use of personnel, considering scope of practice, competencies, patient needs, and complexity of care.
  • Facilitate feed back to assist nurse managers in appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.
  • Provide guidance for and supervision of personnel accountable to the nurse manager.
  • Evaluate performance of personnel when requested.
  • Be accountable for the budget as evidenced by using approved unit based staffing matrix and mix.
  • Provide, facilitate, or evaluate educational experiences for nursing and other students.
  • Ensure shared accountability for professional practice.
  • Advocate for a work environment that minimizes work-related illness and injury.
Requirements:

Qualifications as Below:

Education:

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of West Virginia

BSN or Baccalaureate required.

Nursing Administration Certification or specialty recommended

Maintains hospital required certifications

Maintains 30 contact hours continuing education per year

Experience:

Three to five years of nursing experience with one year in management required

Demonstrated leadership and management abilities

Demonstrated ability to communicate appropriately and effectively

Experience in effectively dealing with the public

Knowledge and skill in management of patient care required

Demonstrated skill in problem solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making

Certifications:

CPR; PALS, ACLS, CNAA or CNA or as specialty area requires
